Pattern of Targeted Attacks
Since the start of the extensive conflict in Ukraine, a series of Russian military personnel have been attacked within Moscow.
This latest event follows other notable incidents, including:
- General Yaroslav Moskalik was died in a car bomb attack in Moscow earlier this year.
- General Igor Kirillov was killed in late 2024 when a device placed on a scooter was triggered from afar.
While a informant previously linked Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such allegations are rarely formally acknowledged as a matter of policy.
Hostilities has been marked by covert operations moving into the center of the Russian capital.
The probe into General Sarvarov's death is still active.
