Actor Rejects Anti-Vaccine Views After Narrating Disputed Covid Film
Liam Neeson has provided his vocal talents to a new documentary that casts doubt on the safety of vaccinations and commends ex- health official RFK Jr.
The Documentary's Contentious Origins
Called "Plague of Corruption," the project is inspired by a popular book written by a controversial scientist, who rose to infamy during the global outbreak for assertions that the virus was caused by a bad strain of the flu vaccine.
Her collaborator, a producer, has also written books with conspiracy-prone media personality Alex Jones. The producer wrote online celebrating Neeson's involvement in the film.
A Firm Rebuttal
A spokesperson for the actor have issued a response pushing back against implications that he holds anti-immunization sentiments.
"Many acknowledge that unethical practices can exist within the drug industry, but that should never be confused with being against vaccines," the comment explains. "He has never been, and is not, against vaccines. His long work with the global charity underscores his consistent support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
It noted that the star was not involved in crafting the film's narrative and that inquiries about its claims should be directed to the creators.
Major Assertions In the Feature
According to the documentary, the script provided by Neeson features several strong claims:
- It suggests that pro-immunization voices have called for "blind obedience" to government bodies.
- It posits that "science has become highly politicized."
- RFK Jr is interviewed stating, "The big problem with vaccines is that they simply are not safely tested."
- The film further attacks Covid lockdowns, arguing they caused severe distress that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Concerning the immunizations, it references a view that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "risky trials."
Previous Controversy and Ongoing Issues
It includes a 2004 BBC documentary about clinical trials on children, which was subsequently the topic of a formal apology by the broadcaster for editorial breaches.
Recently, RFK Jr directed the CDC to alter its official position that there is no link between immunizations and autism. This supposed link is repeated in the documentary, even with a fresh analysis from the WHO stating no evidence has been found.
An Earlier Record of Support
Differing from the documentary's message, Neeson has in the past voiced firm endorsement for vaccines in his capacity as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
Two years ago, he described vaccines as "an extraordinary triumph," noting that "The debate about vaccines in lately has overlooked how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in our history."
The film ends with Neeson's script stating, "This is not the end of our story. This is the dawn of a different phase."
