The acclaimed British actress Dame Helen, currently recipient of an Academy Award, several BAFTA honors, three Golden Globes, multiple Emmy accolades, and a Tony, will soon add another major award to her collection: the Cecil B. DeMille Golden Globe career honor.

Award Event

Dame Helen, 80, formerly honored as a dame in 2003 and honored as a BAFTA fellow in the year 2014, will receive the award during a presentation on the eighth of January, three days before the main Golden Globes occur, within a ceremony promoted by the Globes as Golden Eve.

This will also include the awarding of the Globes’ Carol Burnett prize for small-screen contributions, the honoree for which is still to be revealed. The prior year’s honorees were Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Mirren stands as a force of nature, with a career is truly exceptional,” said Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes. “Her transcendent performances and devotion to her art constantly motivate numerous actors and audiences alike. We are deeply honored to present her with this lifetime achievement honor.”

Notable Roles

Mirren gained prominence in the 1970s with key roles on stage in London’s theater district and through the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as in movies including O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.

Back in the 90s, her lead performance in the crime series Prime Suspect increased her popularity further. Other important films comprise Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.

She earned an Academy Award for her performance as Queen Elizabeth II in the 2006 movie The Queen, a role she revisited back in 2013 within The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan regarding the encounters with the Queen and premier Thatcher, a role for which she earned a Tony during 2015.

Recent and Upcoming Projects

• Subsequent cinematic works feature Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, which she narrated.
• Her role in the streaming adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club has received positive reviews and honors speculation is growing regarding her role as a terminally ill matriarch in Winslet’s initial directorial project, Goodbye June.
• In the coming year, Mirren will be seen portraying Patricia Highsmith in Corbijn’s dramatic film, Switzerland.

Golden Globe nods will be declared on the eighth of December, with the film by Paul Thomas Anderson One Battle After Another, Zhao’s Hamnet along with Ryan Coogler’s Sinners anticipated to be prominent.
