A man from Australia that leaped across a fence and grabbed celebrity Ariana Grande has been sent away and prohibited from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, aged 26, was handed a penalty to more than a week in prison for disrupting public order and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the country's border control told local media.

He forced his way beyond security and charged at the actress and singer, who was attending the regional launch for the film on 13 November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.

The individual has a record of interrupting performances and celebrity events, including rushing the stage at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in June this year.

The incident caused anger in Singapore, with several individuals accusing him of re-traumatising Grande.

The celebrity has spoken of dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at her performance in the English city in May 2017 took the lives of 22 people and hurt numerous attendees.

During Wen's trial, the judge was informed he had made efforts to breach on the red carpet event twice, according to local news sources.

He then made a another effort to cross the barriers. Protection personnel prevented him and held him in place.

Wen later posted video clips appreciating the celebrity for letting him on the carpet and said he was "released."

Law enforcement arrested him the subsequent day and accused him with causing a disturbance, to which the man admitted guilt.

The District Judge the magistrate was quoted by Channel News Asia as stating that the man sought attention, adding that he was incorrect to think he would not suffer any consequences.

Grande has not addressed the situation.

Erivo mentioned the incident to NBC, saying that she "only aimed to verify my friend was protected."

"I think he didn't intend us harm, but you never know with such situations, and I sought to confirm that she was alright. That was my first instinct," she stated.
