The Actress Expresses Discussing Trump Would ‘Intensify Divisions’ That’s Ripping the Nation Apart

Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she believes it's no longer fitting to speak out regarding the Trump presidency, worried it could worsen polarizing arguments and further divisions throughout the country.

‘I Question the Usefulness’, Says the Actress

In a recent interview, Lawrence shared, “Back in Trump’s initial term, I believed I was running around without clear direction. But it’s become clear, over multiple voting cycles, public figures have no real impact in any way on voter decisions.”

She continued, “So then what am I doing? I’m just sharing my opinion on an issue that’s going to heighten conflict dividing the nation apart.”

Changing Allegiances

Lawrence has previously been open about backing Republican and Democratic presidential nominees over the years. Growing up with Republican parents in Kentucky, she voted for John McCain in 2008 then moving to the Democratic party and explaining she realized during Obama’s administration that supporting the GOP was voting against her individual liberties as a female citizen.

Previous Comments

In 2015, she commented that Donald Trump’s election might signal “a catastrophic event” and backed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. In the latest campaign, she gave her endorsement to Kamala Harris, “since I think she’s an amazing candidate and I know that she will do whatever she can to defend abortion access.”

Hollywood’s Stance

Jennifer Lawrence was aligned with most of Hollywood in her disapproval of the former president as a returning figure, but the minimal impact celebrities have over the public choices was emphasized by the outcome.

“Another four years appears changed,” noted she about his leadership. “Since he made his plans clear. We were aware of his actions for the previous administration. He was explicit. And that’s what we chose.”

Current Projects

Lawrence is discussing the drama, the filmmaker’s drama in which she plays a recent parent who deals with her psychological well-being in rural Montana. Speaking at a press conference for the project in Venice, she addressed the situation in the Middle East: “I feel fear. It’s devastating. What’s happening is no less than a genocide and it’s horrible.”

Additional Thoughts

Lawrence added by saying that she was disheartened by “the lack of civility in the discourse of the political landscape at present and how that is going to be accepted to the children right now. It’s going to be standard to them that elected officials deceive.”

Lawrence aimed to shift anger about the issue to policymakers rather than entertainers. “Concentrate on the people in charge,” she remarked, which was interpreted as a nod to the declaration supported by more than 4,000 entertainment industry figures to avoid Israeli film institutions.

Individual Insights

The actor, who received an Academy Award aged 22 for her performance in Silver Linings Playbook, is attracting awards attention for her performance in Die, My Love. Even though Lynne Ramsay has rejected the story being understood as one of postpartum depression and psychological distress, the actress shared that she did relate to elements of her role’s experience after the delivery of her second son, soon after filming concluded.

“There was concern for my son,” she said, “envisioning every negative outcome, and then questioning everything that I was doing. I was seeing a therapist, but I began using a drug called Zurzuvae and I continued it for 14 days and it really helped.”

Career Moments

The actor also mentioned about the liberating necessity of filming without clothes in the movie while she was expecting and limited physically.

“There’s a freedom,” she commented, about having to cast off vanity. “Truly, I occasionally wonder where I’m like, What technically are the differences between my work and that profession? But it doesn’t trouble me deeply.”
