Toronto Blue Jays Claim World Series Showdown Versus defending champion Dodgers
Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros claiming the championship in 2017.
Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their maiden World Series after the 1993 season by beating the Mariners in the decisive game seven of the AL Championship Series.
Down by two runs, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run homer in the seventh, leading the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 victory in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, who are the defending champions, in the anticipated Fall Classic.
"I'm just so happy for our team, our city, the nation," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "What an unbelievable moment."
Springer has now hit 23 post-season home runs, making him third on the list behind Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of another person in the world that I'd choose in that situation except for George Springer with his October magic," remarked Schneider.
The Mariners, despite leading the early in the series, remain the sole team never to appear in a World Series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it's going to sting" after his team's loss at their home ballpark, but praised their work throughout the year.
"It's a special team. It's a shame that we finished on the wrong side of the series," he added.
Toronto claimed the World Series on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in game one on Friday.
