Tottenham Boss Thomas Frank Labels Vicario Booers 'Not True Real Fans'

The Cottagers Start Strong to Beat Spurs and Increase Pressure on Frank

Spurs fans who jeered goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed later "they can't be real Tottenham fans" by boss Frank.

Spurs conceded a pair of scores in the opening initial moments to fall 2-1 to their opponents, registering their 10th Premier League at home defeat of the year.

However the primary talking point was Fulham's second goal when Vicario gave away the ball well beyond his box.

He ventured out to handle a long ball and carried the ball towards the sideline.

But, rather than booting it into touch, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.

The forward passed the ball off to Welsh midfield player Harry Wilson, who bent a strike into the goal from the sideline measured at thirty-six point six yards.

Moments later when the ball went to the keeper again, some Tottenham supporters jeered him.

The team were booed off at half-time, with the side 2-0 behind, and once more at full-time.

A particular of those jeering sessions truly irritated Frank.

"It came to my attention a few of our supporters reportedly jeered the situation and jeered after, which, in my view is completely unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated regarding the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.

"[They] cannot be true Tottenham fans that act that way. Alright jeering following the match, no problem, but when we are in play, we are supporting each other, we are with one another moving ahead."

Tete had given Fulham a fourth-minute advantage prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second period performance.

Former top-flight keeper Joe Hart stated that the next score was "completely avoidable".

"I certainly appreciate the fans' frustration," the ex-keeper added. "I know the role Vicario is performing. He is a great team player, he is a real leader in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your actions.

"The keeper was heavily involved in what ended up to be the winning score."

'It is In the Game, I Can Handle It'

Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario Following the Game

Italy international Vicario is in his 3rd campaign with Spurs.

He said following the match that he had to take the feedback.

"That goal was a mistake of my own, I take accountability for it," he commented.

"The intent was to kick the ball far and I simply struck the ball in a bad manner. That made an even bigger challenge to climb."

He said being booed "is part of the game".

"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he continued. "We can't be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the entitlement to do as they see fit.

"It's on us to stay increasingly composed, to concentrate on ourselves. The team is missing in calmness and poise to reverse outcomes. Today is a bad loss and it's tough to accept."

'It Shocked Me No One Returned to the Goal Line'

Despite Vicario's mistake, it was not an simple score for Harry Wilson to convert.

In fact it was the next most distant Premier League goal of the campaign – after Tyler Adams' forty-three point three metre goal for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which interestingly too occurred on the same day.

The goalscorer said he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open goal to aim for.

10 seconds passed between the keeper coming out of his area and Wilson striking – which was 5 seconds after the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was away from the area for a long time," he said.

"I was surprised none of the defenders went back to the line. When not one of them covered the goal, my eyes lit up somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie fell as well, which gave me a little additional opportunity. After that it was all about trying to achieve the correct contact and place it on target. I had a positive feeling, as soon as it came off my foot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Bad Spell, Everything Seems to Go Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unjustifiable - Frank

Although the keeper's mistake led coverage, this was an overall bad day for Spurs to extend their home ground struggles.

The match was their tenth home defeat of 2025 in the Premier League, a shared team record along with nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.

They still have home games against Frank's old side the Bees and title holders the Reds to play before the close of the season.

Only one of those wins have occurred since Frank took over from his predecessor in the off-season.

"When you're down 2-0 following the opening, there is a huge challenge to overcome," stated Frank.

"When you're in a bad spell, all aspects seems to work against you as well – the first was a deflected attempt, the next is a mistake from the keeper.

"This result leaves us in a position where we have suffered another match. Every game has a single narrative, this game we lost in the first six minutes.

"We just need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and with luck something we can utilize to develop."

Spurs have lost four straight at home capital clashes for the first time in the top division.

Furthermore they are recording 9.5 attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per game in the division – their lowest rates on record in a single campaign (dating back to the 2003-04 season).

Former Cottagers midfield player Murphy commented that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He must accept the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He has taken a high profile job at a huge football club with massive expectation. There is pressure and duty that accompanies that.

"Their showings at home have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
